SHILLONG: Acid attack by a woman caused injury to a victim in Nongrim Hills.
According to a delayed report one Lapchi Marak threw acid on one Evani Cherik Ch Sangma (24) on the morning of July 30.  Police are yet to ascertain the reason for the attack.
It was last year that the state cabinet approved the ‘Poison Amendment Bill, 2013’ to regulate the sale and storage of acid. The Bill was in compliance with the Supreme Court ruling.
The purpose of the Bill was to prevent people, who have criminal minds, from using acid to harm others.
In the past, there were instances of acid being misused for criminal purposes including throwing the liquid on the faces of victims.
