Agartala: Tripura police has raised question over the role of Assam Rifles in raiding the rented house of a policeman who was arrested suspecting over ground collaborator of banned outfit National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) along with other last night.
Police said the court sent them to three days police remand for further investigation on Saturday.
Assam Rifles jawans accompanied by Territorial Army raided the house of one Goutam Sarkar at Pragati Road of the city and picked up policeman Jyotish Debbarma (50), a constable of Tripura police and Indrajoy Reang (33), a resident of Kanchanpur from a rented house at Pragati Road of the city at night.
A senior police officer however pointed out that usually local police are intimated before any operation by any security agency but in this case police was completely in dark.
Meanwhile, during interrogation police came to know that one Dipak Banik of Teliamura has hatched the plan against Indrajoy Reang. Allegedly, Dipak took Rs 37,000 from Indrajoy for providing a job Assam Rifles but he failed.
When Indrajoy, exerted pressure on him for paying back the money, Dipak called him to come to Agartala to settle the deal and accordingly he came. Indrajoy is known to Jyotish Debbarma and he lodged in his rented house.
The duo claimed Dipak brought all papers and counterfeit notes with him. When Assam Rifles raided the house, he went away in front of them leaving all belongings behind. But the knife was used by Jyotish at his kitchen. (UNI)
