SHILLONG: An angry mob lynched a kidnapper in West Garo Hills on Saturday.
According to police, at around 7 am, five armed miscreants attempted to abduct a 15-year-old by Md. Mafikul Islam at Jangrapara weekly market in West Garo Hills.
When his friend Md. Nozorul Islam (23), put up a fight, the miscreants assaulted him with a pistol butt and he sustained injuries and was shifted to Community Health Centre Tikrikilla.
Following this, people present at the scene apprehended and assaulted the miscreants and one of them identified as Jecky R Marak died on the spot whereas his four accomplices Dilath Marak, Apple Sangma, Tison Marak and Amson Sangma managed to escape in the melee.
Police recovered and seized one pistol from the deceased at the place of occurrence and his body was shifted to Civil Hospital Tura for post-mortem.
