GNLA rebel escapes from hospital

TURA: A suspected GNLA militant in judicial custody at the Williamnagar district jail has escaped from a government hospital where he was undergoing treatment on Wednesday morning.

The undertrial prisoner identified as Bishnu M Sangma was ungoing treatment at the civil hospital.

According to police, the prisoner had entered the toilet to relieve himself, but when he failed to come out even after 20 minutes, the guard grew suspicious and broke open the door only to find that the toilet was empty.

The militant had escaped through the ventilator of the toilet.

The accused was caught by police following an encounter with GNLA at Bolonggre in which one militant was killed.
