SHILLONG: The Urban Affairs and Municipal Affairs department will hold a meeting on August 12 to discuss the issue of hike in fares of buses and maxi cabs operating under the SPTS and SSPTS, respectively.

Urban and Municipal Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh informed on Friday that the fare hike and the subsequent opposition to it would be discussed at the meeting.

Following the hike in fares from August 1, criticism has poured in from several quarters at the unreasonable hike in fares despite funds being made available by the Union Government.
