SHILLONG: The Commandant of 4th MLP Battalion has dismissed Havildar Bitharstone R Marak from service for his anti-national activities of working for terrorist organization GNLA.
In a statement issued here on Friday, Inspector General of Police, Operations, G.H.P. Raju informed that Marak left the Battalion Headquarters Sophian for Assam, without any permission apparently to receive AK ammunition from arms smugglers Bikunjoy Longmailai of Dima Hasao district, Hari Gayari of Karbi Anglong district and Tapan Baishya of Kamrup district of Assam on April 19.
Later, he was arrested along with the arms smugglers at Jorabat and a case under 25 (I-A)/29 Arms Act was registered by the Assam Police. “The Assam Police have recovered mobiles, cash of Rs.50,000 and 130 rounds of AK series ammunition from them. These AK ammunitions were to be supplied to the GNLA militants by the Havildar,” Raju said.
Marak had been actively engaged in providing logistic support to GNLA for quite some time, Raju said, while informing that currently Marak was being lodged at Williamnagar Jail under judicial custody.
