SHILLONG: Laitumkhrah got one better of Imson on Saturday’s First Division match at Polo Grounds after A Mawthoh’s double strike that saw the former head home with a thrilling 3-2 win.

Mawthoh provided an early 2nd minute breakthrough to put Laitumkhrah in front before Imson’s J. Dkhar levelled scores with a goal in the 11th minute.

It wasn’t until the 48th minute that Laitumhrah’s A Owolesho pulled one back for his side to add to the excitement.

Just as Laitumkhrah appeared to be in a stronger position with their second lead, Imson’s C Hashah equalised the scores two minutes later.

However, the final decisive blow was delivered a little later in the 57th minute when Mawthoh scored his second goal.

Laitumkhrah maintain their position in the top spot with this win while both Imson and Shillong United share second place.

Meanwhile, Lawsohtun plundered their way past a hapless Sanmer with a huge 3-0 victory in their Third Division match. The contributors for Lawsohtun were S Shylla (1), F Lumphuid (57), and B Malngiang (63).

On Monday’s First Division match, team Mawlai will face team Smit at 4pm while on the same day team Umlyngka will play Mylliem at 4:15pm in the Third Division match.
