Badminton C’ship concludes

NONGPOH: The 32nd State Level Badminton Championship hosted by Ri Bhoi District Badminton Association (RBDBA) under the aegis of Meghalaya State Badminton Association (MSBA), concluded here on Saturday.

The closing ceremony was attended by Chief Engineer of Meghalaya State Sport Council G Kharmawphlang as the chief guest in the presence of MSBA President W Kharshiing; Meghalaya State Commission, Resource Mobilization MG Kharshanlor; RBBA President Ferdinald K Kharkamni among others.

The championship is also supported by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs and the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District.

The championship saw participation from a total of 285 participants from six districts of the State. The ceremony ended with a prize distribution by the chief guest and others to the winners in different categories.

In the final matches held on the closing day Lalmuanpuia (EKH) defeated Siddartha Das (EKH) in men’s singles; Balajied L Nonglait and Bishen Thapa (EKH) defeated Lalzarmawia and Lamuanpuia (EKH) in men’s doubles, in women’s singles Pretty Singh (EKH) defeated Larihun (EKH) while in women’s doubles Eraneeles Syiem and Pretty Singh (EKH) defeated Balashembha Passah and Emilanadaka Chyrmang (WJH).

In U-19 category, Kiefer W Shullai (EKH) and Shweta Basel (EKH) won the boys’ and girls’ singles respectively and Kiefer W Shullai and Kynsaj S Mylliemumlong (EKH) won the boys’ doubles.

In U-17 category, Mebanker Shullai (WJH) and Shailja Chettri (EKH) won the boys’ and girls’ singles and M Shullai and H Passah (WJH) and Shweta Basel and Banadien Rapsang (EKH) won the doubles.

In Boys Single U-15 Ritu Ragnag (EKH) defeated Hrisami Passah (WJH), In Boys Double Hrisami Passah and Buromlangki Lakiang (WJH) defeated Ritu Raj Nag and Bidish Saika (EKH).
