Allege U-turn by Hek

SHILLONG: The non-bonded GNM nurses have opposed the proposed move of the State Government to conduct fresh examination to fill up the 180 vacant posts. They have also expressed disappointment over the alleged u-turn of Health Minister AL Hek on the issue.

“We are shocked to hear about the plan of the Government to conduct fresh examination after it had conducted the personal interview about a year ago,” the affected non-bonded nurses said in a statement issued here on Sunday.

According to them, there are over 400 non-bonded nurses who appeared in the personal interview on August 29 and 30 last year after they had cleared the written test.

The nurses had also met Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek on August 7 to seek clarification on the delay in the announcement of results.

The affected non-bonded nurses claimed that the Health Minister informed them that the Government is planning to hold fresh examination for the vacant posts.

According to the GNM nurses, Hek informed them that fresh examinations are being conducted since he was accused of showing favoritism to some of the candidates.

The affected non-bonded nurses said that he (Hek) had informed the result would be announced soon when they had met him in May this year.

“The Minister is giving a totally different version of things now for when we met in May he had informed us that the results would be announced shortly. This is injustice to all the candidates who appeared for the personal interview,” the affected nurses said adding that many of the non-bonded nurses will not be eligible to appear for the fresh examination due to overage.

The non-bonded nurses said that the qualified non-bonded nurses will meet to discuss the matter at Savio Hall, Dhankheti on Monday.

“We will take a final call on our future course of action in the meeting,” he said.
