Kohima:  A Naga organisation has demanded that recognized villages in the state along Assam-Nagaland border be protected and that Naga settlements should not be allowed to be disturbed by outsiders.
The United Naga Tribes Association of Border Areas (UNTABA) raised the demand at a People’s Dialogue held at Dimapur on Saturday.
The UNTABA has been working towards protecting the interest of all Nagas sharing boundary with Assam.
A six-point resolution adopted at the ‘dialogue’ also demanded immediate setting up of border guards in all border villages to protect the people and their land.
It also resolved that Point No 12 of the Agreement between the Centre and Naga Peoples’ Convention of 1960 on the inclusion of all Naga areas under Nagaland and subsequent resolutions passed by Nagaland Assembly for geo-political integration of Naga people be implemented in letter and spirit.
The dialogue also resolved that henceforth, the Naga people shall work together irrespective of tribal or other organisational affiliations in matter of reclaiming and protecting the Nagas’ land.
The house also demanded that all bilateral and tripartite agreements made between Assam and Nagaland be reviewed and settle the border dispute on the basis of historical facts. (PTI)
