Two killed, three critically injured in road mishap

JOWAI: Two persons were killed and six others injured, three of them critically, when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided with a truck at Thadlaskein in West Jaintia Hills on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the Tata Sumo (AS11 BC- 3076) coming from Guwahati and proceeding to Aizawl collided with a truck (NL01K-1588) coming from the opposite direction.

One Abhishek Mahendra Bhimani from Mumbai died on the spot while one Lalthanzaua succumbed to his injuries while he was being transported to NEIGRIHMS. The other six occupants of the Sumo sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Sources informed that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving by the sumo driver.
