Demand for enhanced salary

SHILLONG: Association of Resource Person of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan- Meghalaya (ARPSSA-M) has given a one-month deadline to the State Government to enhance their salaries with retrospective from April 1.
“We have been informed that the State Government has received a circular from the Centre to enhance salaries of all resource person in the State from April 1,” ARPSSA-M general secretary Barikupar Mylliemngap said while addressing newsmen here on Tuesday.
He said the Government should enhance their salaries within September 12.
“We would have to resort to other measures to pressurize the Government to comply with our demand,” Mylliemngap said.
As per the circular given by the Centre, he said that the State Government has been asked to raise the salaries to Rs.9900 from the existing Rs.6000.
“The salaries we are receiving at present does not commensurate with the work we perform. Each resource person belonging to a particular cluster has to look after the affairs of more than 20 schools,” ARPSSA-M general secretary said.
Besides looking after the affairs of the schools, he said that the resource person also provides trainings to teachers and members of managing committees of various schools.
