Nokma kidnapped

TURA: The Village headman (Nokma) of Jadogre A’king has been kidnapped by suspected Garo militants from his home in the village on Tuesday night in distant South Garo Hills.

Police sources informed that a group of masked young men, numbering around seven, and brandishing pistols entered the home of Nokma Starson D Sangma (45) at Jadogre village near Kapasipara at around 1 am Tuesday. The kidnappers demanded money from the Nokma and on not receiving any took him away.

The abduction incident took place close to the village of Kolapara where five police personnel were ambushed by GNLA militants last year.
