6 labourers attacked, injured

SHILLONG: Six labourers were attacked by miscreants at a labour camp at Qualapatty behind Norevelyn School here on Wednesday night.

According to police, one Kiesdon Nongpluh lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on Wednesday at around 7 pm, around six miscreants went to the labour camp and assaulted the labourers with batons and planks.

The six labourers – Muzabil Haque (23), Amino Talukdar (20), Nazarul Haque (24), Minnat Ali (27), Hanuj Ali (40) and Kaibul Islam – sustained injuries and were admitted at Civil Hospital, Shillong.

When contacted, SP (City) Vivek Syiem said police have not been able to establish the motive behind the attack. “It could be an act of mischief,” he added.
