24 killed, many injured in house collapses in U’Khand

Dehradun: At least 24 people have died and several others injured, while many cattle were missing in mishaps triggered by heavy rains lashing parts of Uttarakhand over last two days.
The heavy rains also resulted in damage to houses, cattle sheds and erosion of land and road blockades at several places across the hill state, due to which hundreds of people and vehicles were stranded at various places.
While nine people had died in Dehradun, 14 died in Pauri district and one in Pithoragarh in last two days, Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre sources said here today.
Seven people died and one was injured in Kathbangla area of Dehradun, when three houses collapsed after heavy rains washed down debris from hillocks upon their houses.
Two people had died and two were injured yesterday near Kishannagar area of the capital after their house collapsed due to heavy rains.
In Kathbangla, seven bodies were extracted from the debris while one woman with serious injuries was rescued and rushed to Doon hospital, police sources said here.
The deceased including four women, one man and a child belonged to three different families, they said.  (UNI)
