Militants torch motorcycle
On August 15 morning, suspected militants set on fire one motorcycle (A/F) belonging to Donbosco S Sangma at Bobagre Songgittal under Baghmara PS, South Garo Hills. The motorcycle was gutted.
Accidents
On August 14 at around 5 pm, an accident took place between one Maruti car (ML-05-E-6073) driven by Skhembok Kharmujai (63) and one motorcycle (UA-01-4219) ridden by Nobin Sinha (42) at Butcher Road. As a result, the motorcycle rider sustained minor injuries.
On August 14 at around 8 pm, an accident took place between one motorcycle (ML-05-J-4650) ridden by Lobsang Thupden (51) and one Scooty (ML-05H-8150) ridden by Paila Kordor Majaw (16) at Camel Back Road, Shillong. As a result, the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was admitted at Civil Hospital Shillong.
Body recovered
On August 12, body of one Veru Guraij (60) was recovered from the bank of Lukha River (EJH). He was reported missing from his residence at Umkiang (EJH), since August 10, 2014.
On August 14, one unidentified male body, apparently a non-tribal, was recovered at Agreng Bazar (SGH).
Arrest
Police on August 15 arrested four persons from Mawlyngbna for the recent assault of farmers including women from Thyllaw village under Mawsynram over a land dispute.
Assault cases
One Lamphrang Shylla (25), resident of Ladrymbai, was allegedly stabbed with a knife by one Eimon Lamin of the same village and suffered critical injuries. The incident took place on Sunday evening. The VDP Ladrymbai lodged a police complaint on Monday. The accused was absconding after committing the crime.
On August 17 around 10.30 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted two persons Wanker Pathaw (32) and Yanish Snaitang (30 yrs) at Lawsohtun Block -2, Shillong. Victims sustained injuries and were removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.
On August 16 around 10 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted Sindu Deb (42) at Jail Road, Shillong. Victim sustained injuries and was removed to Civil Hospital, Shillong from where he fled away. Matter is under inquiry.
Theft
Between August 16 evening and 18 morning, unknown miscreants broke into the office of V.W. Bonded Warehouse of Nicholas Wahlang at Lower Lachumiere, Shillong and stole cash Rs. 1,47,380 , around twenty tolas of gold, one licensed .32 pistol and one .25 revolver. Matter is under inquiry.
Abduction attempt
Reference to attempt to abduct one Md. Mafikul Islam at Jangrapara Weekly Market (WGH) and lynching of Jecky R Marak, on August 18, public of Rongram Bazar (WGH) apprehended and handed over to Police two persons involved in the case, Tison Sangma and Amson Marak.
Extortion demand
On August 12 around 8.10 pm and on August 14 around 9.15 pm, Gopal K. Sangma of Rongbang A’ding (NGH) received an anonymous SMS over his mobile demanding Rs.1 lakh.
Dr. L.E.K Marbaniang lodged a complaint at Sohra PS that on August 8 around 11 am, one unidentified lady went to his house at Sohra and demanded Rs.3000. Again on August 13 around 9.30 am, he received a call from a mobile in which the caller threatened him that the lady who asked money from him is his wife and he was duty bound to pay her.
Payment default
Pranjil Borkakoty lodged a complaint at Rynjah PS that on July 31, 2013, one Jyoti Prasad took a car loan of Rs.3,84,004 from Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd., Nongthymmai, Shillong, but failed to repay the loan installments.

Molestation bid
On August 15 one woman of Shangpung, who had gone to watch a drama on Independence day was given a lift along with her friend from Shangpung Poh Shnong to Shangpung Khlieh Rangnah by Mon Langstang and Mul Suiam, at about 11 pm. On dropping her friend they offered to drop her home but they did not stop the car and tried to take her away to molest her. On suspecting their intentions she jumped from the speeding car resulting in injuries. An FIR was filed at Raliang outpost on August 18.
