Shillong College Alumni association celebrates twelfth anniversary

SHILLONG: Chairperson of Meghalaya State Commission for Women, Theilin Phanbuh, on Monday stated that education is a powerful tool to eradicate poverty in the State.

Speaking at the 12th anniversary celebration of the Shillong College Alumni Association (SCAA), Phanbuh said students these days are fortunate enough as they have avenues for different fields of study which they can pursue for securing a better future.

Congratulating the Alumni Association on their 12th anniversary, she reminded the gathering that the alumni association has a very important role to play in the development and progress of the College.

Reminiscing her days as a student of Shillong College, Phanbuh said she has very fond memories of her days in the College learning from renowned professors of the days. The Chairperson graduated from Shillong College in 1975.

Earlier in the day, president of the Shillong College Alumni Association, Joining Pde felicitated Phanbuh for her contributions to the State.

Members of the Alumni Association later visited the old age home ‘Shanti Bhavan’ and donated food items such as rice, sugar, cooking oil and biscuits, etc., among the inmates.
