Shillong United FC beat Laitumkhrah

Shillong: Shillong United FC beat First Division table toppers Laitumkhrah 2-0 after facing some tense moments early on at Polo Grounds on Tuesday.

Laitumkhrah started off strongly at least for the first twenty minutes of the match before throwing away their well began momentum midway through the first half of the match.

Donborlang Nongkynrih provided Shillong United a crucial 36th minute goal after Eijingmut’s cross allowed him to send a scorcher past the keeper.

Laitumkhrah got close to goal on a few occasions but another Shillong United goal in the 74th minute through Sushil Meitei shattered their hopes of a comeback.

Shillong United now have 19 points along with Laitumkhrah who still hold a better average.

A spirited team effort by Qualapatty saw them trounce Pynthorbah 3-0 in a First Division match on Tuesday.

H Langstieh opened the scores with a twenty-fourth minute conversion before S Warjri doubled the lead in the sixty third minute with a goal.

The third and the final goal came five minutes later when T Kharkongor’s strike found its way into the opponents’ net.

On Wednesday’s First Division match, teamSmit will play against Pohkseh at 4 pm while Jongksha will face Risa Colony at 4:15 in a Third Division match.
