Passport office in Shillong by August-end

NEWDELHI: The much-awaited passport office in Shillong will start functioning by August-end, according to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
In letter addressed to Rajya Sabha member Wansuk Syiem, Swaraj said that the passport Seva Kendra will be operational from the last week of August.
Earlier in her letter addressed to Swaraj, Wansuk said that with the required infrastructural support by the Meghalaya Government coupled with the sanction of Rs 30 lakh from the Centre, the State PWD carried out civil and electrical works, and the Kendra is now ready for inauguration.
“The officers and personnel chosen to man the Kendra have already been imparted training and are in place ready to function,” Wansuk said.
