Villages inundated

SHILLONG: Continuous rain for the last few days has resulted in flood-like situation in part of Garo Hills where several villages have been inundated.

According to reports, Ampangdamgre, Nengsanggre, Nokgil a’we, Warimagre, Kolmesalgre and other villages in East Garo Hills were submerged.

A resident from Williamnagar, Dr. Rikrak Napak, informed that at Ampangdamgre in the same district, the whole village was submerged and the flood has also affected the livestock.

The residents sought the intervention of the Government as no government agency has made any assessment of the damages.

The affected families have taken shelter in the upper areas which are not affected by flood.

There are also reports of flood in some parts of South Garo Hills too as the Simsang river is reported to be overflowing.
