Hornbill Music Festival to go international

KOHIMA: The organizers of the Hornbill Music Festival have expressed delight in announcing the preparations for the 2014 edition of the Hornbill Music Festival & International Rock Contest, the biggest music competition in the sub-continent.
In a press release issued by A. I. Ngullie, Media & Publicity Manager, NOC & Sky Incorporated, Hornbill Music Festival stated that ‘We, Nagaland Outdoors’ Club (NOC) and Sky Entertainment, are delighted to announce to you the edition, and pitch you a package of excitement, fun and celebrations that we are specially preparing.
“We are readying a memorable experience just for you.’ adding that the Hornbill Festival will not only bring a week of customary festivities from December 4 to 10, Ngullie said that it would also bring ‘a celebration of music that pays tribute to artistry and class at par with international sensibilities, anticipation, and presentation.’
Reaching out to musicians, Ngullie urged them to brush up their skills saying, ‘You will be fighting for your musical life thanks to inflexible competition that bands from across North East India, India, and abroad, will offer you. You will be vying for the biggest prize cache in the country’s music world.’
He added that the details for registration, audition season, and rules and regulations will be announced very soon.
Announcing the prizes, Ngullie informed that the winners of the Rock Competition will pocket INR 10,00,000, the runners up INR 5,00,000 and the second runners up INR 3,00,000. Winners of individual prizes will pocket INR 30,000, Ngullie added.
The Music Task Force (MTF) under the Nagaland Youth Resource and Sports Department of the Government of Nagaland has selected the management of NOC and Sky Entertainment to manage the Hornbill International Music Festival and Rock Contest for this year, the release informed.
The organizers have appealed to every musician and music fan, well-wisher, and the state’s media community to come and partner with them to make the event a successful festival and also make it a memorable experience. (UNI)
