WASHINGTON: Tiger Woods has split with coach Sean Foley, the 14-time major champion said on his website on Monday.
“I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said in announcing the move.
“Presently, I do not have a coach, and there is no timetable for hiring one,” added Woods, who has been hindered by injury throughout the 2014 season.
The 38-year-old missed the cut at the PGA Championship this month, a week after withdrawing from the World Golf Championships event in Akron, Ohio, with similar trouble.
He missed the Masters and US Open while recovering from March 31 back surgery, and finished joint 69th at the British Open. “Sean is one of the outstanding coaches in golf today, and I know he will continue to be successful with the players working with him,” Woods said. “With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando, this is the right time to end our professional relationship.” (Agencies)
