MEFSU to meet Forest Minister

The leaders of Meghalaya Eco-friendly Students’ Union (MEFSU) will meet Forest Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday to discuss issues relating to the operation carried out by cement companies within forested areas in Jaintia Hills District. They would also discuss why the forest definition was redefined by the Government without seeking public consultation. Other matters include the mystery of Syndai Park and the zero progress in setting up of a Green Zone in the State.

Congregation

Manav Utthan Sewa Samiti, Shillong, will organize a two-day ‘Know thyself Congregation’ at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex, Polo Ground, on August 30 and 31 from 11 am to 3 pm. Satpal Ji Maharaj will address the congregation.

Job fair

The Arena Animation Job Fair 2014 will be held on August 27 at Arena Animation, Laitumkhrah Main Road, Shillong, from 12 noon.

Health rally

The Department of Health and Family Welfare, under the aegis of National Health Mission, will organize a Health Awareness Rally by ASHA workers from Madan Iewrynghep to U Soso Tham Auditorium on August 28 at 9 am. The ASHA workers will then attend the Asha Diwas on the same day at 11 am.

Competition

The 24th All Shillong Inter School Drawing & Painting Competition organised by the Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club will be held on August 30 in memory of Manik Ghosh from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at Rilbong L.P School & Rilbong P.N. Chaudhuri H.S. School. The entry fee is Rs.20 per participant. Participants will be divided into five groups: Nursery & KG; Class I & II; Class III & IV; Class V & VI and Class VII & VIII. Drawing paper will be supplied by the organiser. Participation can be confirmed at [email protected]
