Seng Samla Wahingdoh will organize its 20th Educational Award 2014 at Wahingdoh Community Hall on August 30 at 1.30 pm. Home Minister Roshan Warjri will be the chief guest.

General meet

The general meeting of the Meghalaya School Service Association was held recently in the city in which Director of School Education and Literacy, Ambrose Ch Marak, was the chief guest. Various issues relating to welfare of students and school teachers were taken up in the meeting. New office bearers were also elected for the term 2014-2017.

Ganesh Puja

Sri Sri Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated at Matri Mandir, Polo, on August 29.

Dharna

A day-long dharna will be held on August 29 from 10 am on the premises of Shillong GPO against various demanded pertaining to postal employees. The dharna will be observed in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland.

Blood donation

A blood donation camp will be organized at National institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya (Bijni Complex, Laitumkhrah) on August 29 from 9 am onwards in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS. Students and faculty of NIT Meghalaya will participate in the camp.

B’deshi nabbed

A Bangladeshi national identified as Santosh Rai (26) of Dildarpur village, Sylhet District, was arrested from Jowai on Wednesday evening. Police informed that he intruded into Indian Territory after a quarrel with his brother.
