SHILLONG: Three youths from the city, who were taking a dip in a source of drinking water at Mawshbuit, Nongshiliang, were detained by the local people. They were later rescued by the police.
According to Police, on Friday, three persons, Raju Malakar (27), Arun Rai (26) and Agarwal Rai (31) who went to Mawshbuit for an outing were detained by the people of the area for allegedly contaminating the source of drinking water at the spot.
East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said that the three persons were taking a dip in the water when they were held. No complaint has been lodged in this regard, sources informed.
