Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tanga Bylaing on Saturday said that police are making all out efforts to rescue trader K P Chacko who was abducted from Naharlagun on Thursday night by armed miscreants.
A high-level team led by capital SP Seju P Kuruvilla had launched search operation and recovered a bike and a vehicle (used by the abductors) and a Bolero owned by Chacko and his manager at Lichi village near Kimin within no time, the minister said, adding that the trader could not be traced.
Without denying or confirming whether there was any ransom demand by any group, Bylaing said no one has claimed the responsibility so far.
After reviewing a high level meeting attended by principal secretary Home department Dharmendra Sharma and senior officers here on Friday, the Home minister in a statement said that he had directed police to intensify search operation.
The police have been making all possible efforts to trace Chacko, owner of Best Bakery chain, at the earliest and are also taking the help of police forces of neighbouring districts who were alerted Thursday night.
To a question on recent bank robberies by gun-toting youths during broad daylight, Byaling disclosed that four additional check gates in and around the Capital Complex would be installed with CCTV cameras soon to tackle such criminals.
Local MLA and UD Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kaso, after visiting Chako’s rented house on Saturday, also condemned the incident and urged the abductors to release Chako at the earliest. Joining the condemnation, APCC President Padi Richo appealed the kidnappers of Chacko to release him unharmed immediately as he has a family besides his service to the state cannot be overlooked.
