SHILLONG: The ANVC-B has alleged that police have yet again taken into custody of 24 of its cadres who were kept in Tura Jail for the second time. It was on July 26 that the police arrested the 24 ANVC-B cadres.

“As the cry for justice against the fake encounter of three Garo youths at Oragitok gets louder uniting various organisations, police have taken custody of 24 cadres who were kept in Tura Jail for the second time,” ANVC-B publicity secretary, Doang D Shira claimed.

Shira claimed that the police are trying to divert attention from the fake encounter.

The ANVC-B urged NGOs, church leaders, civil society groups and others to take up the matter before any untoward incident takes place.

“We do not want to hold anyone responsible for any killing or bloodshed or death that might follow out of frustration. If State Government continues to adopt such strategies, Garo Hills will never achieve peace,” the ANVC-B said.
