Own goal helps Mawshbuit hold Lummawbah

SHILLONG: An own goal proved costly for Lummawbah who squandered a 24th minute lead to share points with Mawshbuit in a Third Division match palyed at the Polo Grounds on Monday.
Lummawbah drew first blood when C Thangkiew shot one past the keeper in the 24th minute. But his effort was undone by teammate T. Khongnah who scored an own goal to hand Mawshbuit the equaliser in the 28th minute.
Both sides unable to score in the second half as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
SPL to commence today
Meanwhile, the much awaited Shillong Premier League will commence on Tuesday with last year’s finalists Malki taking on Boys Sports Company in the opener at the JN Sports Complex at 3:30 pm. The Second Division tourney will also begin on Tuesday. Sohryngkham will play Nongumlong in the first match of the event at Ground III at 4 pm. Besides this, two Third Division matches will also be played on Tuesday wherein Mylliem will face Lumpyngad and Lumdiengjri will take on Mawtawar. The matches will be played at 2 PM and at 4 PM respectively at Ground II.
