Block-level cultural prog at Nongstoin

NONGSTOIN: A one-day Block-level arts and cultural programmed was organised by the office of the BDO, Nongstoin C&RD Block, West Khasi Hills, on Tuesday which was sponsored by the District Arts & Cultural Society.

The programmed was chaired by the BDO, V. Swer while Chairman, Nongstoin C&RD Block, B. Marngar, attended as a chief guest.

Others present on the occasion included judges of the folk song and dance competition, teachers and student of various school and colleges.

Items including folk song, group folk song, guitar instrumental, folk dance etc., were presented by local artistes and musician. Attractive cash prizes and trophies were distributed to the winners of the various events.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya bagged the 1st prize in the folk song competition while St. John Bosco Secondary School won the 1st prize in the folk dance. The folk song group event was won by KJP Synod H.S. School, Nongstoin while St. Francis D’Assisi H.S. School, Siejlieh, bagged the 1st prize in the guitar instrumental.
