JACATAM, MUPSTA to attend Teacher’s Day prog

No boycott of official programme on Sept 5

SHILLONG: Having boycotted the Official Teacher’s Day celebration in the State for the past two years, the Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Association of Meghalaya (JACATAM) has now decided to take part in this year’s Teacher’s Day celebration on September 5.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, JACATAM publicity secretary Kular Khongjirem said the teachers were happy with the steps taken by the State Government to provincialize teachers of various categories.

“We have decided to actively participate in this year’s celebration which is organised in the various districts and sub-division,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers’ Association (MUPSTA) has also decided to take part in this year’s Teacher’s Day celebration.

“We are not going to have any protect this year,” MUPSTA said in a statement on Tuesday.
