SHILLONG: Last year’s finalists Malki eased to a 3-1 win over newly promoted Boys Sports Company in the opener of the Shillong Premier League at the JN Sports Complex here on Tuesday.

Two first half goals by E Buam put the lesser known opponents on the back foot early on.

Buam scored his first in the 12th minute and doubled the lead for his side in the 37th minute.

Boys Sports Company, however, pulled one back in the 88th minute when P Bhutia found the nets to raise hopes of a comeback. However, Ronnie Nongbri provided Malki a decisive third goal in the stoppage time to lead his side to a 3-1 win.

Meanwhile, in the Second Division tourney, Nongumlong squeezed out a narrow 1-0 win over Sohryngkham. K. Shanpru scored the winner for Nongumlong in the 27th minute.
