A TATA Sumo (MLO5E – 8973) heading towards Mawhiang from Mawsynram with passengers onboard hit a guard wall after it developed some technical snag and overturned. One passenger died on the spot while three others sustained injuries. The accident took place at Umnongrim under Mawsynram Bock, East Khasi Hills on September 8 at 7 pm. Lerisa Shangdiar (65, F), Leonda Mary Kharwar (65, F) and Arphira Marpna (25, F) were shifted to Mawsynram CHC. The passenger who died on the spot has been identified as Siwen Marpna (52, F).
Two occupant of a Maruti Alto sustained injuries when the vehicle bound for Shillong was involved in a head-on collision with a local taxi on a turning at Saw Number under Umsning Block, Ri Bhoi District. Siroy Wahlang (27, F) and Practice Wahlang (30, F) were shifted to Umsning CHC. The incident happened on September 9 at 3:15 pm.
A helper of a night super bus along with a passenger sustained injuries when the Guwahati-bound bus collided with a truck parked on the road at 18th Mile, Byrnihat under Umling Block, Ri Bhoi District. Dabota Sinha (17, M) and Anwar Ali (38, M) were shifted to Byrnihat PHC and then to Guwahati Medical College, Assam. The incident happened on Sept 8 at 5:15 am.
A motorist and a pillion rider sustained injuries when the motorbike (MLO5J – 9260) travelling towards Nongpoh was hit by a Mahindra Max (MLO4 – 8483) at Mawlai Mawiong, Shillong on Sept 8 at 11 am. Mankhraw Dkhar (22, M) and John Tongper (26, M) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
A Mahindra Bolero drove off the road and fell into a drain by the side of the road near 101 Area, Upper Shillong while it was travelling towards Mairang from Shillong. The driver of the vehicle along with a co-passenger sustained injuries during the incident which happened on Sept 7 at 2:10 pm. Pynbhalang Snar (20, M) and Honiborn Tangniang (39, F) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
A motorist sustained injuries after falling off from the motorbike when the brakes fail to function. The motorist was travelling to Samangre when the incident happened at Waribokgre under Rongram Block, West Garo Hills on Sept 7 at 8:30 pm. Jeba Marak (18, M) was shifted to Tura Civil Hospital.
In another motorbike related accident, a motorist and the pillion rider sustained injuries when the motorbike was involved in a collision with a Maruti car at Mawlai Motsyiar, Shillong on Sept 7 at 9:30 pm. Athnasius Lyngkhoi (21, M) and Joy M. Mawlong (21, M) were shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
A Maruti Van (MLO6 – 3472) travelling towards Tihsaw from Tyllang was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the van sustained injuries during the incident which happened at Pomphyrnai under Mawthadraishan Block, West Khasi Hills on Sept 7 at 9 pm. Kaiansingh Lyngkhoi (30, M) was shifted to Tirot Singh Memorial Hospital, Mairang.
