SHILLONG: The Centre is yet to finalise the date for official signing of the memorandum of settlement with ANVC.

It was on February 28 this year that the Centre had approved the proposal for implementation of Agreed Text for Settlement (ATFS) signed between the Government of India, the Government of Meghalaya and the ANVC.

Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had indicated that the memorandum of settlement will be officially signed after the Parliament session which concluded on August 14.

When contacted, the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs in Charge Northeast Shambu Singh recently said that the date was yet to be finalized.

The additional chief secretary in charge home K S Kropha said on Wednesday that the State Government was yet to get any intimation from the Centre on the date for signing the peace package.

The ANVC wanted signing of the settlement in Delhi and not in Garo Hills.
