SHILLONG: A driver of a Maruti car died on the spot while a co-passenger sustained injuries when the vehicle drove off the road at 101 Area, Upper Shillong, on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Melbourne Kharbudnah. The injured co-passenger Pynshngain Blah (19) has been admitted at Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.

In another incident, a vehicle travelling towards Jowai from Guwahati overturned after skidding off the road near Umkhen Bridge under Mawryngkneng Block, East Khasi Hills on the Shillong Bypass on Tuesday.

One Gustin Shylla (38), who was injured in the accident, was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
