Nongthymmai beat Nongumlong 2-0

SHILLONG: Nongthymmai displayed a show of dominance on Wednesday at Polo Grounds, beating Nongumlong 2-0 in a Second Division game. A. Sungoh provided the breakthrough in the 42nd minute before K. Kapfen made it 2-0 in the 61st minute to give Nongthymmai a comfortable 2-0 win. In a Third Division game, Pynthorbah scripted a narrow 1-0 victory against Umphyrnai after a 64th minute life-saver by R. Sujai. In another Third Division match, Nongrim Hills were brought down 1-0 playing Marbisu. D. Malngiang was the solitary scorer of the match, converting a shot in the 69th minute. On Thursday, Madan Laban play Mawpat in a Second Division tie at 4 pm at ground III. Meanwhile, in the Third Division, Nongsohphoh meet Jongksha at 1:30 pm at Ground II while in the next game, Nongrah will play Laitkor at 4 pm.

Rohit Sharma will miss CLT20

Raipur: Defending champions Mumbai Indians head coach John Wright on Wednesday said that skipper Rohit Sharma will not play in the Champions League T20 tournament. Sharma sustained a fracture in the middle finger during the second ODI against England at Cardiff and missed the remaining 3 ODIs and the one-off T20 that followed. “Rohit Sharma will not be playing in this tournament. We thought as long as possible. We will find who will lead the side in next 24 hours,” Wright said in a press conference here . (PTI)
