Govt calls for upgrading skills of teachers

SHILLONG: Principal Secretary, Education, PK Srivastava, has asked the students to take part in co-curricular activities and urged the teachers to constantly upgrade themselves keeping pace with the changing times and highlighted the need for in service training for teachers.

Speaking at the 91st Foundation Day celebration of Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School on Saturday, Srivastava lauded the school for its contribution in the field of education inspite of limited infrastructure.

Former Education Minister Manas Chaudhuri was the guest of honour on the occasion.

The programme witnessed the felicitation of the former presidents and secretaries of the School Managing Committee, ex-Principals and teachers.

In course of the felicitation, the school authorities fondly recollected the contributions made by former teachers in shaping the school. On the occasion, numerous cultural programmes were organized both by past and present pupils of the institution. More than 60 numbers of academic and other prizes were also awarded during the programme.

The highlight of the prize distribution ceremony was the felicitation of the school cricket team.

President of the School Managing Committee, Dr. S.K. Chattopadhay, presided over the function.
