TURA: Chief Minister Mukul Sangma on Tuesday announced that a commission of inquiry headed by a retired judge would be instituted to probe various anomalies in Tura Civil Hospital.
After a review meeting with the officials in Tura, the Chief Minister also fixed a deadline of 45 days to make the Intensive Care Unit ( ICU) at Tura Civil Hospital operational.
Sangma added that the Principal Secretary, Health, would be directed to assess the matter and make the ICU operational within 45 days.
The Chief Minister, perturbed over the non-functioning of ICU at Tura Civil Hospital which he had inaugurated in 2012, said that it was mandatory for the ICU to be operational to cater to referral services.
In a move to bolster efficiency in medical services, Sangma urged all concerned DM&HO to clearly indicate deficit and actual numbers of doctors and staff while submitting proposals to Government.
The Chief Minister held the review meeting with Deputy Commissioners, DRDA, Medical, PWD, PHE and other line departments of all the five districts of Garo Hills at Tura Circuit House.
He was accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary in charge Community and Rural Development and IPR Rophul S Marak and Parliamentary Secretary in charge Water Resources Ashahel D Shira.
Sangma later reviewed schemes and developmental activities taken up by the PWD (Roads) and PHE departments among others.
Financial inclusion :During the review meeting, Sangma came to know about certain glitches by banks in disbursing seed money to partners under the state’s flagship women economic empowerment through financial Inclusion scheme.
He urged the banks to rectify the mistakes within a stipulated time span through effective measures.
