SHILLONG: HSPDP MDC from Sohyrngkham, Pyniaid N Syiem has opposed the State Government’s proposal to acquire additional land for the New Shillong Township.
“I have been informed that the Government is planning to acquire more land for the New Shillong Township in Mawdiangdiang and Mawkasiang areas. I am against this move as this has greatly affected the inhabitants of the villages within Raid Tynring and Mawiong Mawkhanu which falls under my constituency,” Syiem said in a representation submitted to Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh here on Tuesday.
He feared that many people will become landless if the Government continues to acquire land.
