Puja meet
The monitoring-cum-implementation committee of 19th South Shillong constituency organized a pre-Durga, Lakshmi and Kali Puja get together of harmony on Sunday. The programme was attended by various puja committees, Church committees, members of Dorbar Shnong and NGOs. The function was celebrated by cutting of puja cake by local MLA Sanbor Shullai followed by distribution of financial aid to various puja committees.
Bank opening
The Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd will open its 47th branch at Demthring on September 18. Cooperation Minister HDR Lyngdoh will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Hindi Diwas
The Meghalaya Hindi Prachar Parishad celebrated Hindi Diwas at the Ruprekha Secondary School. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest M Rapsang highlighted the importance of Hindi. The souvenir “Deep Sikha” was also inaugurated and 30 poets felicitated on the occasion.
Musical event
The Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi will organize an awareness programme cum musical event for schools and college students of Shillong from September 15-20. The event has been entitled Breakfree and will cover 10 colleges.
Cleaning drive
The Urban Shopping Complex Association will organise a cleaning drive at MUDA complex at Khyndailad on September 18 from 7:00 am to 12:00 noon. The shopping complex will remain closed during the cleaning drive hours.
