JYF alerts EJH DC on influx

JOWAI: The Jaintia Youth Federation- East Jaintia Hills (JYF-EJH) urged the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner to take steps to check the entry of illegal migrants from other states and Bangladesh.

JYF-EJH president, Niwasly Rymbai, said that the DC has assured to take up the matter with the Police, particularly the infiltration cell.

Rymbai said that following the recent order of the NGT to allow the transportation of extracted coal, labourers who had left the state post the ban on coal mining are coming back to East Jaintia Hills.

“The policemen, particularly those posted in the Infiltration check gates at Um-tyr-a and Rattacherra should take measures to check the entry of illegal migrant workers in to the district,” the JYF said.
