SHILLONG: Despite the inclement weather, there was no fear on the part of passengers of the Pawan Hans helicopter on Monday, the 10th anniversary day of the chopper crash in Ri Bhoi.

An official with the transport department said that on Monday both the scheduled chopper sorties operated with near capacity from Guwahati to Shillong and vice versa despite heavy rainfall. While the crashed Pawan Hans helicopter had twin engine Dauphin N, the present one is upgraded Dauphin N3.

The official said that the Pawan Hans has highly trained, experienced and confident pilots flying the helicopter and frequent flyers have admitted this.

According to the official, even the Commanding officer in charge Eastern Air Command prefers to fly in Pawan Hans chopper as it reaches the destination on time safely.
