SHILLONG: In an alleged case of police highhandedness, one Malcolm Dkhar of Lumskshaid, Lower Mawprem was assaulted by the second in-charge of Jhalupara beat house on Monday night for protesting the latter’s rough driving.

In a complaint lodged by none other than UDP legislator, Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday, it was alleged that Dkhar was forcefully taken to the beat house by the police after he shouted back at second in-charge, S Momin after being hit by his motorcycle.

Lyngdoh lodged the complaint with Inspector General of Police (IGP), GHP Raju and East Khasi Hills SP, M Kharkrang.

The UDP legislator also slammed the police official for “badly assaulting” Dkhar which he termed as a misuse of power and demanded strong action against Momin.
