NEN awareness

North East Network (NEN), a women’s right organisation, will organise an awareness programme on Teenage Pregnancy & Cyber Crime in collaboration with the Lawsohtun Dorbar Shnong and the Sub-Committee on Violence Against Women of Lawsohtun, on Sept 25 from 10 am at Lawsohtun community hall.

Demonstration

The State BJYM will organize a sit-in demonstration on Thursday near All India Radio Station from 10:30am to 12 noon in protest against the failure of the State Government to take action against the persons involved in the education scam in Meghalaya.

Trust formed

Ankit Dhariwal Memorial Trust, which caters to protecting the rights of women, has established its North East Centre with Shillong as its regional headquarter, informed founder of the Trust, Suneeta Dhariwal.

Platinum jubilee

The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA), Shillong will celebrating its platinum jubilee as well as the 57th annual meet of Shillong HSA at U Soso Tham Auditorium on Sept 25 from 10am. Live music, entertainment sessions and traditional Hmar cuisine will be served in the evening.

Declamation

The Department of English, Shillong College will organise a Declamation competition on “Reliving the Bard’s Words” in commemoration of the 450th Birth Anniversary of William Shakespeare on Sept 26 at 11am, at the College Conference Hall. The programme will also witness recitation of passages from famous plays by Shakespeare by the participants.

Postponed

In view of the flood in Garo Hills and some part of the State, the Scrutiny of the Youth Congress scheduled from September 23 to September 27 has been postponed until further order.
