Bangalore: Chennai Super Kings and Lahore Lions were left disappointed after their Group A match of the Oppo Champions League Twenty20 was washed off without a single ball being bowled at the M Chinnaswamy stadium, here on Thursday.

With incessant rains coupled with lightening and thunders lashing the city, the field was kept under cover right from the start and even the toss could not happen.

The umpires had initially decided to take stock of the situation later but continuous rains forced the officials and authorities to call off the match with the ground flooded with water.

The MS Dhoni-led team stays on second spot with six points in three games, after getting two from this match, while Lahore have registered their first points on board after losing their opening encounter to table-toppers KKR.

CSK had lost their first match against the Gautam Gambhir-led KKR before defeating the South African T20 champions Dolphins, who are winless from their two games, in their last game.

With Kolkata already qualifying from Group A, Chennai and Perth Scorchers will be running close to be the second team from this group to book its last-four spot. Lahore and Dolphins will really have to play out of their skins in their respective matches to hope for a turnaround in fortunes. (PTI )
