Girl shot at in Muzaffarnagar
Muzaffarnagar: A 20-year-old girl was allegedly shot at by some persons over an old enmity at Bhikki village in the district, police said on Sunday. The incident took place Saturday when Rashida was at her house following which the miscreants opened fire and pelted stones at her, they said. Mohd Hasan, the girl’s father, has lodged a complaint and alleged that the miscreants came and attacked his house following which his daughter sustained bullet injuries. Police has registered a case against four persons Pervaiz, Adil, Ikram and Guddu who are absconding, Station House Officer Rohtash Singh said. Its is suspected that the accused attacked the house of the Mohd Hasan over an old enmity, police said, adding that the seriously injured girl has been shifted to a hospital. (PTI)
ASI, constable injured in firing by murder case accused
Bhopal: A assistant sub-inspector and a constable were seriously injured when a murder case accused and his associate shot at them here. Anshu Dixit, undergoing imprisonment on murder charges, had escaped from UP’s Sitapur jail about six months back and when UP Special Task Force found out his location in Bhopal recently, they arrived here to catch him, a senior police official said on Sunday. The UPSTF team, led by ASI Sandeep Mishra and assisted by two constables of local crime branch, on getting information that Anshu was roaming in Habibganj under-bridge area, reached the spot Saturday night and found him near a wine shop, he said. The moment police challenged him, he opened fire at them causing grievous injuries to Mishra and constable Raghvendra Pandey. Dixit then fled from the spot along with his associate in a white car bearing registration number of Delhi, the official said. The injured policemen were admitted in a private hospital and their condition was serious, he said. Inspector General Bhopal, Yogesh Choudhary said an intense search is on to nab the culprits. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Babulal Gaur also visited the injured policemen Sunday in the hospital to enquire about their condition. (PTI)
Six persons killed, 12 injured in a fire incident
Ballia: Six persons were killed and 12 others injured in a fire incident in Rasra town of the district, police said Sunday. Superintendent of Police R B Singh said an oil tanker in a bid to save a motorcyclist overturned in Sonaideeh locality last evening, leading to a huge oil spill on the road. Later around midnight, a petromax used for lighting purpose exploded at a nearby house, sparks of which caused the spilled oil to catch fire, he added. The victims, who were trying to pilfer the oil, got trapped in the fire. Sugreev (28), Golu Rajbhar (16), Pintu Rajbhar (26), Bijendra (25), Ram Pravesh (22) and a unidentified person died on the spot. The SP said the injured were admitted to the district hospital, where one Sheru Singh (25) with serious burn injuries was referred to a Varanasi hospital for treatment. (PTI)
