SHILLONG: IMPRESSIONS 2014, a Mass Media event was organized by the Mass Communication department of Sikkim Manipal University, Shillong Centre, at the Don Bosco Youth Centre on Saturday.

This event was a convergence of various art forms – from paintings to photography and culminating in screening of documentary films. The painting competition was organized for students of Classes 11 and 12 from various schools of Shillong and photography competition for students of the department.

Former Editor of The Shillong Times, Manas Chaudhuri, presided over the function as the chief guest, while Munish Singh, Director, ICCR, was present as the guest of honour.

Chaudhuri gave away the prizes for the best documentary film An ordinary outlook- A simple way to livelihood. This documentary touched upon the lives of people in Smit. The best research work was given to Anamika Sutradhar for her thesis paper A study on the influence of reality based crime shows on today’s youth. The winner of the painting competition was Balajied K. Sun from Shillong College. The winner of the photography competition was Oinam Joychandra.
