Lajong register convincing 2-0 win over Boys Sports

SHILLONG: Shillong Lajong registered a convincing 2-0 win playing Boys Sports Company in a SPL match on Monday at the JN Sports Complex. Lajong’s side, comprising mostly of junior players, opened the scoring only in the first six minutes of the match through a header by Nim Dorjee Tamang.

Boys Sports pressed hafd for a chance to score but their attacking side could not make their chances. Lajong’s Rupert Nongrum scored the second goal in the 22nd minute before going into half time and give 2-0 lead. After the first half both the teams could not yield any oppurtunities to score and Lajong firmly held the lead and seal the victory.

The Second Division match saw Nongumlong make a scare win 1-0 over Mawpat. B. Warkhyllew who scored the solitary goal for Nongumlong fired in the 33rd minute of the match.

Meanwhile, Laitkor came from behind 1-0 to snatch a 2-1 win over Risa Colony in the Third Division match. after S. Mynsong provided two goals.

Risa make lead in the 48th minute goal from E. Thabah but Laitkor strongly came in the second half and S. Mynsong scored two goals for his team in the 55th and 65th minute to lead his team a 2-1 win.

In another Third Division match, Jongksha hammered Mawklot 8-2 after a hat trick from K. Rynjah who scored in the 2nd, 31st and 33rd minutes and four goals from A. Rynjah in the 12th, 52nd, 62nd and 63rd minutes.

The other goal was scored by S. Rynjah in the 9th minute.

For Mawklot, A. Kurkalang scored both the goals after he converted the first penalty goal in the 54th minute and added one more in the 67th minute.
