SHILLONG: The Ministry of Forest and Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has formed a high level committee to review the environmental protection Act, 1986, forest conservation Act, 1980 wildlife protection Act , 1972, the water (Prevention and Control of Pollution), Act 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution), Act 1981.

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
