Agartala: The investigation of Rs 5 Cr Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA) scam in the school education department has taken a new turn with the suspension of its former additional director Biswarath Debbarma on Monday following his alleged involvement in the case.
Earlier, two other officers of the department were suspended in connection with the case. Based on the statement of the prime accused of the case RMSA cashier Arnab Chakraborty, arrested in Kolkata two weeks ago, police raided the houses of three officers and subsequently there were suspended.
Initially, the department put the deputy director of the department Ambalika Dutta and additional director Dilip Debbarma under suspension following seizure of evidence that the duo had been illegally gratified by Chakraborty.
Though all three officers were suspended from the service, yet they have neither been arrested nor interrogated by the police. However, police sources claimed besides, these three two other senior officers and two political leaders name have also been associated in the case.
“We have intimated the matter to high-ups seeking their arrest and interrogation but for seven days it was not clear. Though everybody is publicly stating that nobody will be spared if involved in corruption but in practice police did not get the support for action rather unnecessarily blamed by the public,” said a police officer.
