BEIJING: Five-time major winner Maria Sharapova moved into the third round of the China Open with ease on Tuesday. The fourth-seeded Sharapova saved seven of nine break points she faced in a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, a semifinalist last week at the Wuhan Open.
Radwanska, the fifth seed, was beaten by Italy’s Roberta Vinci 6-4, 6-4. Since winning the Canadian Open in August.
No. 1 Serena Williams takes on Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria, and her sister Venus plays France’s Caro Garcia.(ap)
